The Story of  Studio Sav

Hi! I'm Savannah, founder of Studio Sav. Despite having never considered myself much of a writer, I decided to give blackout poetry a try in December 2020. Little did I know, this art form would soon become one of my favorite forms of self expression.

Over time, as I continued making blackout poems on my own, I began to feel a strong pull to share my creations with the world. This led to the idea of converting my poems onto greeting cards. I envisioned these cards as a means of bringing people closer together and igniting creativity in both the sender and the recipient. What makes my greeting cards unique is their showcasing of the distinctive and instantly-recognizable format of blackout poems. In this way, they not only spread the word about blackout poetry as an art form but also, hopefully, they inspire others to give it a try. I aspire for my greeting cards, accompanied by the personalized inscriptions from the sender, to be cherished as standalone works of art by their recipients.

Over the years, my artistic journey has expanded from creating digital and mixed media artwork just for myself to focusing on creating greeting cards and leading collage and poetry workshops online and in-person in Austin, Texas. I take pride in creating a supportive environment where my students can embark on a journey of self-discovery while also creating meaningful connections with fellow participants. Through these gatherings, I hope to encourage artistic expression and foster connections that strengthen our local and global communities, ultimately forming a world that feels more interconnected.
